The best carbohydrates are the ones that burn the cleanest (i.e. don’t cause inflammation, fatigue, sluggishness, fogginess, or joint pain) = brown rice, wild rice, quinoa, oats, millet, sweet potatoes, beets, squash, carrots, turnips, yams, and parsnips. Fats can also be used as energy in the body. If you burn through your carbohydrates, your body will shuttle your fat cells in and covert them to energy. You can also use healthy fats as energy sources. The best healthy fats = coconut oil, mct oil, grass-fed butter, ghee, avocado, olives, olive oil, salmon, anchovies, sardines, nuts, and seeds. You can become “fat-adapted” meaning your body becomes tuned to using fat as it’s primary fuel source.
