Functional Medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease, using a systems-oriented approach that helps you and the practitioner you are working with to collaborate in a therapeutic partnership.
This approach to medicine addresses the whole person, not simply an isolated set of symptoms. You can expect a Functional Medicine practitioner to spend more time with you than a conventional provider, to listen to your health history and look at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors in your life that can influence your long-term health. The practitioner will go further to ask about your mental well being, social factors, and your spiritual health.
There are specific laboratory tests that the Functional Medicine Practitioner may ask to run based on what is revealed in their initial intake. The health professional will then take the results from the entire intake process and the tests to design a treatment plan with you that will help you to reach your health goal
As Naturopathic Doctor’s, this is how we’ve been trained and how we’ve been approaching health and wellness for years!
The need and demand for holistic, patient-centered care, with a focus on finding the underlying causes has led conventional medicine in the U.S. to start to adapt to this approach and start to utilize nutritional strategies, natural treatments, and functional lab testing.
In addition to our basis of addressing the root causes and treating the whole person using individualized strategies, Naturopathic Doctor’s also have extensive training in Clinical Nutrition, Lifestyle Management, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, Botanical Medicine and Physical Medicine.
Our unique blend…
We combine the best of both World’s – Naturopathic Medicine + Functional Medicine. Even though the approach is the same as Naturopathic Medicine, our Functional Medicine training has allowed us to incorporate some additional functional lab testing methods and treatment protocols.
Our staff also has extensive training and certification in IV Nutrient Therapy, Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement, and Functional Medicine.
We stay on top of the advancements in both and use an integrated approach that we call “The Phenom Method” to give our patients the best possible outcomes.
