If you want to feel great and perform at your best, your body needs to working properly first.
You can’t build a house without the proper foundation!! No matter how hard you try, you can’t win the Indy 500 with an engine and transmission that don’t work!
The Hormone System, Digestive System and Detox System control most of how your body works. These 3 systems need to be working well and working together to allow your body to function the way it should. Most people have no idea how good their body is designed to feel. Over the years, people get used to the way they feel and they way they perform and accept it as their new normal(athletes are the worst for this). This “new normal” is then confirmed by the people around you who also have this subpar normal. A perfect example is, “I feel tired between 2-4pm each day” or “I have 1 bowel movement per day” or “I’m gaining body fat with age” or “I get bloated or gassy after meals” or “I have a lot of aches and pains” or “my performance is inconsistent” or “I have trouble staying focused and mentally sharp” – just because people are agreeing with you doesn’t mean that it’s the way it should be! These are actually some signs that your systems aren’t working the way they should and there are reasons why they are happening!
Besides the obvious signs and symptoms we are looking for, people reporting the way they feel is often too subjective. We are “health detectives” and we know how you should be feeling and functioning, so we use a number of assessment tools and are looking for a number of things.
One of tools we use is called Functional lab testing. Functional lab testing is the assessment of saliva, stool, urine, or blood to give us key insight into how each of your systems is working and what the specific issues are. Different from conventional lab testing that your family doctor would run that tests for endpoints and extremes, this type of testing is looking for functional imbalances.
Why does this matter? It matters because we can identify issues before they become more serious and before they become more debilitating. Many people have great looking general blood work, but don’t feel good and aren’t performing as well as they could be. It’s like plugging your car into the diagnostic computers at your mechanic to see the issues and correct them before having to call roadside assistance because you’ve blown your transmission. We have specific tests for the Hormone System, Digestive System, and Detox System and a systematic way of correcting imbalances and restoring function.
Once we have identified the specific issues, we correct them with natural medicine (for effective results and to avoid unnecessary side effects and harm to the body), and then fine tune things to optimize the way your body works for your specific goals, job, or sport.
This is a modern approach to medicine and is the future of medicine because we are uncovering issues specific to each individual, maximizing their health, optimizing their performance and preventing illness and injury.
