1 cup filtered water
1 cup coconut milk or coconut kefir
1 tbsp natural nut butter (almond, cashew, or macadamia)
1 cup strawberries 
1 banana 
1 scoop protein powder (Paleo Whey Protein or Paleo Beef Protein)

Blend all of the ingredients together for a perfect post workout recovery shake. The coconut milk is a great alternative to cow’s milk as it is less inflammatory and has less chance of irritating the digestive tract, leading to better absorption of the shake.  Coconut kefir contains good bacteria (probiotics) that improves digestion so you obtain even more of the nutrients in the shake. The natural nut butters contain a high amount of healthy fats and protein.  The strawberries have a high Vitamin C content and contain carbohydrates to help replenish the body.  Similar to the strawberries, bananas are a good source of carbohydrates, but they also contain a high quantity of potassium which is an electrolyte that is important to replenish for proper recovery.  The last ingredient is the Paleo Whey or Beef Protein.  These are superior forms of protein with a complete amino acid profile, including a high amount of Leucine – which is the key driver for protein synthesis and muscle repair and growth. Ideally sourced from grass-fed cows, hormone-free, and minimally processed so they contain more nutrients and less harmful substances.
