A Healthy Gut is Key

DO YOU:

Feel bloated often?

Have digestive issues like IBS, acid reflux, diarrhea or constipation?

Get allergies or get sick often?

Have muscle or joint stiffness or soreness?

Brain fog or find it hard to focus?

Have trouble losing weight or body fat?

Get frequent headaches?

Feel unsure of what to eat anymore?

FIXING YOUR GUT IS KEY!

Your digestive tract is a tube that is over 25 feet long that runs from your mouth right through to the other end. It acts a barrier to prevent pathogens form getting into your body and also as a sponge to absorb all of the nutrients you take in from food.

A healthy gut is vital to feel and function at your best. It impacts every system and every thing that happens in your body!

All disease begins in the gut

.”

— The Father of Medicine, Hippocrates, said over 2,000 years ago, “All disease begins in the gut.” He was right, and before disease comes dysfunction.

THE GUT-BRAIN CONNECTION

Modern research has uncovered some other very interesting and important functions of the gut. The gut is commonly referred to now as the 2nd brain! This is because the gut and brain are in constant communication with each other and because the gut makes up to 80% of your brain chemicals called neurotransmitters(i.e. serotonin, dopamine). Serotonin plays a major role in feelings of happiness and emotional well being, but also in learning, memory, sleep and sexual function. Dopamine plays a major role in motivation, enthusiasm, attention, and memory.

The common sayings, “Trust your gut” or “I have a gut feeling” make a lot of sense when you consider the gut-brain connection. Whatever is happening in your gut, is happening in your brain! If your gut is disrupted, you feel bloated, inflamed or uncomfortable, you will likely also feel foggy, tired or unfocused mentally.

Besides the gut-brain connection, there is also a gut-immune connection! Up to 70% of your immune system is based in your gut. Allergies, getting sick often, autoimmune conditions, all stem from a weekend gut causing an overloaded immune system.
